An Instagram profile apparently belonging to 25-year-old former tennis player Radhika Yadav has come under the spotlight as police continue their investigation into her shocking murder, reportedly by her father.

The bio of the private Instagram account reads, “Todo pasa por algo,” in Spanish, which translates to “everything happens for a reason”. The phrase has stirred speculation over the circumstances that may have led up to Radhika’s death, as questions swirl around the family’s role in what police say was a troubled household.

The Instagram account has only six posts. It is followed by 69 users and came to light after Radhika’s close friend and fellow tennis player, Himanshi Singh Rajput, tagged the handle in a photo.

In an Instagram video on Sunday, Rajput claimed that Radhika was shamed by her family for wearing short clothes and talking to boys.

“They could not stand to see her independent,” Rajput said. “They shamed her for wearing shorts, talking to boys, living life on her own terms.”

Radhika’s family denied these claims, calling them “baseless”.

A cousin said, “There were no restrictions on her. If there had been, she would not have been able to travel or coach kids.”

The police had later contradicted this and confirmed that Radhika had confided in her coach, Ajay Yadav, on WhatsApp, saying she wanted to leave home and move abroad.

Radhika, a state-level tennis player who transitioned to coaching after an injury, was found dead on Thursday at her home in Gurugram’s Sector 57. Her post-mortem report revealed she was shot four times—three bullets in the back and one in the shoulder. Her father later confessed to the killing and is currently in police custody.
