Rai sports school celebrates 51st annual day

Motilal Nehru School of Sports (MNSS) at Rai celebrated its 51st annual day today. Lt General Sukriti Dahiya, an alumnus of the school, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Ashok Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Haryana Sports University, and Sandeep Chaudhary, were the guests of honour at the event.
The celebrations began with the guests’ visit to art room, school museum and the annual exhibition, which showcased creativity, innovation and talent of students across various disciplines.
The students were applauded by the guests for their creations. Thereafter, the stage programme commenced with a standing salute, followed by the school song.
Col Ashok Mor, principal and director, welcomed the guests and parents and presented the annual report of the school. He said a record number of 371 students had won medals in sports events.
Accolades were bestowed on outstanding performers in the fields of scholastic, co-scholastic and sports. Later, a cultural show was put up by students, which included well-coordinated PT, gymnastics, riding, band displays, a patriotic action song by junior wing students and an enthralling Haryanvi dance performance.
In the end, prizes were given to the students, who had excelled in academics, sports and co-curricular activities.
In the junior wing, Indra House was awarded with the Asha Verma Trophy for being the “best” house. In the senior wing, Indra House received the prestigious Arjuna Trophy for excelling in all fields.
The Governor’s medal for the session 2023-24 was awarded to Kajal of Surya House. Jyoti of Indra house bagged the prize for all-round best student of KNS, the junior wing of the school.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Lt General Dahiya said he was filled with a sense of nostalgia, pride and gratitude towards his alma mater. It was this school that had shaped his personality and contributed towards making him a good officer.
He urged students to embrace the opportunities provided by the school and requested the parents to realise that real wealth lies in all-round development of their wards.
VC Ashok Kumar showered his praises on MNSS Rai for producing many a luminous personality. He talked about the infrastructure of the school and urged students to hone their skills so that excellent sportspersons emerged from the school in the years to come.
