Sirsa, August 20

Persistent rain has led to significant damage in Randhawa village of Nathusari Chopta block in Sirsa district. The ongoing rain has caused moisture buildup, resulting in the collapse of walls and houses.

Notably, the 600 ft boundary wall of the Asma Rice Mill also fell due to the excessive moisture. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but the damage to the wall is estimated at Rs 20-22 lakh.

Ankur Nehra, the mill’s operator, stated that the wall’s instability was exacerbated by three days of continuous rain. This follows a previous incident in July when part of the wall also fell. Locals have reported widespread damage across the village and are urging the government for assistance following the rain-related destruction of homes.
