The weather saw a significant change on Friday morning as unexpected showers lashed the city, bringing with it a mix of relief and challenges. The sky remained overcast throughout the day and by the afternoon, it began raining. In some areas, hailstones accompanied the rain, which ranged from light to heavy.

For farmers in rural areas, the rainfall was seen as a blessing, often referred to as "gold falling from the sky." The farmers like Sewa Ram, Ashok Budania, Kamal Saharan, Sohan Singh, and Neki Ram expressed their satisfaction, stating that the rain would benefit their crops, especially wheat and mustard. The rain is expected to boost the growth of these crops, which had been affected by lack of water.

However, in urban areas, the rain caused significant problems. Many markets were flooded, turning streets into muddy patches. People and drivers faced major difficulties navigating through the waterlogged roads, especially two-wheeler riders whose vehicles were often stalled in the rainwater. The administration's lack of preparedness worsened the situation, leaving people stranded in the chaos.

The sudden weather change also brought a drop in temperature, affecting people's daily routines. To make matters worse, an unannounced power cut occurred as soon as it began raining. The electricity supply was disrupted for several hours, adding to the discomfort of the residents. Livestock owners also faced difficulties due to the sudden downpour.

According to Dr Madan Khichar, head of the Agricultural Meteorology Department at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, the weather change was due to the partial influence of a western disturbance. He further mentioned that the weather in Haryana would remain variable on December 27 and 28, with light showers expected in some parts. However, from December 29 onwards, the weather would become dry, which would benefit wheat cultivation in many areas.

Overall, while the rain brought much-needed relief for crops, it caused considerable inconvenience in urban areas, affecting daily life and highlighting the need for better infrastructure and preparedness for such sudden weather changes.
