On Monday afternoon, parts of Sirsa district, especially Dabwali and Rania, experienced heavy rain along with strong winds. While the rain came as a blessing for farmers, it caused severe waterlogging problems in urban areas.

In Rania, knee-deep water flooded the main market and surrounding streets, disrupting daily life. In villages around Dabwali, sudden gusty winds and rainfall led to flooded lanes and community spaces, making it difficult for people to step out of their homes. The strong winds also caused power cuts, leaving many areas without electricity for several hours.

Rania faced more serious conditions due to poor drainage system. Sirsa Road and other major streets were heavily waterlogged. Water even entered several shops and houses, causing damage and financial loss to shopkeepers and residents.

However, for farmers, the rain proved highly beneficial. After a long dry spell, they welcomed the showers, saying it would greatly help their kharif crops such as cotton, guar and moong.

The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in many districts of the state over the next 2-3 days, advising residents to stay alert.
