Gurugram, January 25
A man from Rajasthan was arrested on Thursday for allegedly cheating a man on the pretext of home delivery of wine, Gurugram cyber police said. The accused was identified as Harun, a native of Rajasthan’s Seekri.
A man had filed a complaint in October last year about fraud in the name of home delivery of wine. During investigation, the accused told the police that he had transferred the amount defrauded from the complainant to a bank account in Bharatpur. He along with his associates had also committed various such crimes. “The accused has placed a fake advertisement on Google in the name of home delivery of wine. Whenever a person searches on Google in the name of online wine delivery, mobile numbers given by them appear on the website. When contacted, they get the payment transfer by sending a scan code,” said Vipin Ahalawat, ACP cyber.
“The accused used a bank account from a person from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur to transfer the defrauded amount. They used to give half of the defrauded amount to the bank account holder. We are trying to nab his other associates,” said Ahalawat.
