Rajnath Singh to inaugurate Gita conference at Kurukshetra varsity

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Gita scholar Swami Gyananand will also attend the inaugural ceremony

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the three-day 10th International Gita Conference, being jointly organised by Kurukshetra University and the Kurukshetra Development Board, at Kurukshetra University on Monday.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Gita scholar Swami Gyananand will also attend the inaugural ceremony.

University Vice-Chancellor and conference patron Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said the presence of Defence Minister will greatly enhance the dignity, aura and grandeur of the international conference, while encouraging the youth of Kurukshetra University to draw inspiration from the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.

Conference director Prof Tejinder Sharma stated that scholars, researchers, international delegates and Gita enthusiasts from across the world will participate in the conference.

Registrar and conference adviser Dr Virender Pal said exhibitions, poster presentations, cultural performances and interactive dialogue sessions will also be organised.

As per conference Deputy Director Prof Vanita Dhingra, five plenary sessions will be held after the inaugural function on diverse themes such as Gita ethics in the digital age, ecology and co-existence, moral duty and peace, digital battlefield awareness and choices and consequences. These sessions will feature eminent national and international scholars and spiritual thinkers from countries including Australia, Japan, USA, Russia, China, Spain, Lithuania, Malaysia, Nepal, Hungary, Ethiopia, Belarus, Poland and Sri Lanka.

Deputy Director, Public Relations, Dr Jimmy Sharma said the Defence Minister had earlier visited Kurukshetra University in 2017 as the chief guest at its 30th convocation ceremony.

Early Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will reach Brahma Sarovar and inaugurate the Haryana Pavilion prepared for the International Gita Mahotsav. Defence Minister will participate in a Havan as well. The main events of the IGM will be organised from November 24 to December 1.
