Rally motivates two-wheeler riders to wear helmets

A helmet rally was organised by the Bharat Vikas Parishad Maharishi Dayanand branch, in collaboration with the Police Department, Education Department and the regional transport authority, in Ambala on Thursday.

Ambala Superintendent of Police Ajit Singh Shekhawat, who flagged off the rally, said lakhs of people die in accidents across the country, out of which 60 to 70 per cent are two-wheeler riders and the prime reason for death is head injury. "The best way to prevent head injury is wearing a helmet. The rally will inspire the youth to wear helmets while riding two-wheelers. This is for our own safety and not just to avoid traffic challan."

RTA Sushil Kumar said the rally will motivate two-wheeler riders to wear helmets.

Road Safety Committee member and project head of the event on behalf of the Parishad, Rakesh Makkar, said the rally commenced from Jaggi City Centre and passed through Model Town, Prem Nagar, Beti Bachao Chowk, Maharaja Agrasen Chowk, Bus Stand, Shukla Kund Road, Old Civil Hospital Chowk, Jagadhri Gate, Arya Chowk and concluded at Herbal Park.
