Ranjit said that the BJP had offered him the Dabwali seat, which he declined, as he wanted to contest from Rania. He made it clear that he was not interested in contesting from the Dabwali seat and would rather prefer to contest as an Independent candidate from Rania. He confirmed that he had resigned as Power Minister. He plans to launch his election campaign with a big road show on September 8 to demonstrate his political strength and influence. He is confident about his chances of winning the elections as an Independent candidate. He said that about 20 Independent candidates would win the elections and play a pivotal role in forming government.

Ranjit said that many leaders, who were dissatisfied with both BJP and Congress, may join this group of Independent candidates. He emphasised that voters would support genuine representatives rather than those chosen by the party leadership.
