Rao Inderjit hosts CM, signals unity

After hosting MLAs from southern Haryana as a show of strength, Union Minister of State and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh today hosted Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and his wife Suman Saini for dinner at his daughter and Heath Minister Arti Singh Rao's official residence here today. Tourism Minister Arvind Sharma was also present.

Sources said this dinner was being seen as an attempt to send out a message that the Raos were with the government and that the June 18 dinner, attended by 11 BJP MLAs and one Congress MLA, was not a show of strength or a challenge to the government or the leadership.

The BJP and its leaders had downplayed the dinner, saying that there was nothing "unusual" about hosting MLAs. Transport Minister Anil Vij had said he would have attended the dinner had he been invited.
