Rape accused ‘blackmails’ minor victim, booked

A 17-year-old girl has alleged that Ashutosh, a local resident, allegely raped her in November last year and had been blackmailing her using a video and photographs of the rape.

The police have registered a case in connection with the incident of rape and blackmailing in the district. No arrests have been made so far.

The complainant’s kin informed the police that the accused had been extorting money from the victim since the incident. The accused allegedly threatened the victim with dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone.

It was revealed that the victim did not report the incident and kept paying the money demanded by the accused until the matter was exposed recently. The victim disclosed the situation to her family after they noticed she had been secretly taking money from the house. The exact amount of money paid is not known.

The victim’s kin lodged a complaint with the women’s police station on Friday. The police registered a case under Sections 354-D, 376, 450, 506 and 4-8 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused, who is absconding.
