The Vice-Chancellor of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University for Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, has suspended an employee for allegedly trying to rape a postgraduate course student in a women's washroom. The matter has been referred to the women's cell of the university.
The police have registered a case against the employee and launched an investigation. The accused has not been arrested so far. As per information, the incident was reported to the police on October 1. The student, in her complaint to the police, said she had gone to the washroom and a peon in the Vice-Chancellor’s office entered the washroom. She alleged that the accused held her and tried to remove her clothes. When she tried to resist, he shut her mouth and threatened to kill her. However, she managed to shout, forcing him to flee. She informed the university administration and also filed a police complaint.
The VC, Shri Prakash Singh, said the employee had been suspended and an internal inquiry had been ordered.
