In a significant development, the Panchkula police have booked six individuals, including a woman who had previously accused state BJP president Mohan Lal Badoli and singer Jai Bhagwan, alias Rocky Mittal, of rape, in connection with an alleged honey trapping and extortion case. Police confirmed today that two of the accused — a woman and a man — have been arrested and placed under a two-day police remand.

Police file cancellation report in rape case

The Kasauli police recently filed a cancellation report in the rape case against state BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli and singer Jai Bhagwan, alias Rocky Mittal. The report, submitted to the Nalagarh court, highlighted critical issues with the victim's allegations, including her refusal to undergo a medical examination, lack of CCTV footage, and inconsistencies in her statements. The woman had accused the duo of raping her in a Kasauli hotel on July 3, 2023, after allegedly being forced to consume alcohol and filmed in a compromising state.

The case stems from a complaint filed by Mittal, a former chairman of the Haryana Government's publicity cell. According to Mittal, the woman, along with another woman named Mehak, contacted him on September 9, 2024, and allegedly threatened to falsely implicate him and Badoli in a fabricated case unless they paid Rs 50 lakh. Mittal claimed that the accused also pressured him to arrange a meeting with Badoli, escalating their demands when he refused to comply.

On September 18, the group confronted Mittal at his residence in Panchkula, accusing him of accepting money under the pretence of securing employment for them. The woman later filed a sexual assault complaint against Mittal and Badoli in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh, on December 8.

Mittal alleged that the accused were part of a larger network engaging in blackmail using fabricated videos. He claimed to have received several calls from Mehak in January, during which she allegedly confessed to orchestrating the extortion plot with another accused, Amit Jindal. She reportedly repeated the demand for Rs 50 lakh to settle the Kasauli case.

Following Mittal's complaint, the police have charged six individuals under Sections 308(1), 308(5), 351(2) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Sector 5 police station in Panchkula. The investigation is ongoing.
