Residents of HSVP Sector-1 in Narnaul are a harassed lot due to the accumulation of sewage and dirty water on the main road of their locality. The waste water stinks, causing inconvenience to residents. The stagnant water is also a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Residents say they have been running from pillar to post to get the issue resolved, but to no avail.
Taking a serious note of the complaint, Cooperation and Tourism Minister Arvind Sharma has directed Deputy Commissioner Vivek Bharti to form a committee to find out a permanent solution to the problem at the earliest.
The minister issued the directives while chairing a meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievances Committee in Narnaul town here on Thursday. As many as 14 public grievances were placed at the meeting and eight of them were resolved on the spot.
“Not only residents of the HSVP Sector-1, but several other localities too have been facing the issue in Narnaul due to the overflowing of sewers. Poor drainage system is the main cause of the problem. Despite being aware of the issue, the authorities are turning a blind eye towards it, hence residents of the HSVP sector had to raise the issue at the meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievances Committee,” said a source.
In their complaint, the residents said they had many times lodged complaints about the accumulation of sewage on the road to the Public Health and Engineering Department and the Municipal Council, but the authorities had not paid any heed. They said residents were falling ill as the stagnant water had become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Hearing a complaint regarding the electricity connection of tube well, filed by Ram Singh of Beri village, the minister directed officials to give the connection within 10 days. Besides, instructions were issued to build a boundary wall around the pond near City Play School in Narnaul city.
Sharma also asked officials to listen to public complaints with utmost seriousness and resolve them on priority.
Later, the minister reached the house of Asha Sharma, daughter of former minister and veteran BJP leader Ram Bilas Sharma, in Narnaul city and invited people for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Panipat on December 9.
“More than 50 per cent of the women will mark their presence in the programme. The Prime Minister will launch the Bima Sakhi Yojana on the occasion. The yojana will prove effective in making women self-reliant,” said Sharma.
