Angered over not being given a discount, a man, along with his associates, created ruckus at Narayana Hospital in DLF Phase 3. They not only vandalised the hospital but also brutally beat up the security supervisor and guards. The episode was captured on the hospital’s CCTV cameras.

The accused also broke the guard’s walkie-talkie, two hospital employees saved themselves by locking themselves in a room. According to the complaint filed by hospital manager Pushender Singh, who was on night duty, around 1.20 am on Sunday, while he was sitting in the control room near the emergency along with security supervisor Krishan Kumar, a man and a woman started arguing with staffer Noor Alam at the billing counter near the emergency. When the manager inquired about the case, Alam said a patient, Sangeeta, wife of Naveen, a resident of Nathupur village, had come in for emergency treatment. The bill for her treatment was Rs 5,667, but the couple sought a 50 per cent discount.

“I explained to them that we cannot give a 50 per cent discount, but Naveen insisted on it and said he would take the patient back. When security guard Yogender and supervisor Kumar stopped him, he entered into a scuffle with the guards and abused me. Later, he called four of his friends. As soon as they arrived, they, along with Naveen, thrashed me, guards Yogender, Krishan, Ashok, fireman Jyoti Prakash and Bipin Kumar. They snatched the walkie-talkie set and broke it by hitting me on my head. Somehow, I and Krishan locked ourselves in the control room, but they broke the door and thrashed us again, following which we called the police,” Singh said in his complaint.

An FIR has been registered against Naveen and others under Sections 148, 149, 323, 506 and 427 of the IPC.
