Dhirendra Khadgata, Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation, Faridabad, said removing illegal colonies in Rohtak district was a major challenge when he joined as the Deputy Commissioner last year. However, through the collective efforts of the district administration, a significant number of illegal constructions in unauthorised colonies were successfully removed over the past few months.

Khadgata was reflecting on his tenure as Deputy Commissioner of Rohtak during an interactive programme organised by the Haryana Union of Working Journalists (HUWJ) here on Saturday. He was recently transferred from Rohtak to his new post as Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Faridabad.

“People not only built structures in illegal colonies but also encroached on government land at several locations, hence it was necessary to carry out a demolition drive here to protect the government land from encroachers,” he added.

Sharing his special bond with Rohtak, Dhirendra said, “Rohtak holds a special place in my heart, as it was my first posting as an IAS officer during my training. Since then, I’ve served here as Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation and later as DC.”
