Karnal, January 27

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who unfurled the national flag on Republic Day at the Police Lines ground here on Friday, announced a 30-yard plot scheme for the poor and needy under the Mukhya Mantri Shehri Awas Yojana.

“A portal will be launched from February 1 for the allocation of plots measuring 30 square yards in 11 cities under this scheme. Applicants can participate by depositing a nominal amount and avail loans from banks, along with assistance from the central and state governments, to build their homes on these plots,” the CM said.

Besides, Khattar announced installation of statues of Mangal Sen and Kalpana Chawla at Mangal Sen Auditorium and Kalpana Chawla Medical College in Karnal, respectively. Additionally, he announced the expansion of Atal canteens to 40 grain markets, from the current 25, starting February 1, to provide nutritious food at affordable rates to poor farmers throughout the year, rather than just five months.

The CM also declared that a monthly power bill would replace the bi-monthly system from February 1, starting as a pilot project in the first phase in four districts — Hisar, Mahendragarh, Karnal and Panchkula. “Initially, Nigam workers will conduct meter readings, and later consumers will send meter readings through a mobile application, bringing improvements and benefits to the system,” said the CM.

Khattar commended the working of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that under his dynamic leadership, India had consistently progressed in the fields of agriculture and advanced technology.

Mentioning the inauguration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Khattar said, “Since 2014, governance has been provided in Haryana in line with a ‘Ram Rajya’ vision to offer facilities to the public, ensure women’s safety and empower panchayats.”
