Residents of Govind Nagar Colony on Hisar Road staged a road blockade on Saturday, protesting a severe drinking water shortage that has plagued them for over a month. Frustrated by the lack of action, locals had previously blocked the road to draw attention to the issue. This time, the protest caused a massive traffic jam, with long queues of vehicles forming on both sides of the road.

Officials of the Public Health Department and police arrived at the scene to address the concerns. Public Health officials assured the protesters that the water crisis would be resolved soon. However, residents blamed frequent power outages for disruption of the water supply in the area.

Local resident Meena said that adding to their woes, the Public Health Department had been issuing notices to residents for unpaid water bills over the past two months. Many residents fear losing their water connections due to these warnings, creating panic in the city.

Protesters expressed their frustration, stating that despite attending grievance camps and lodging complaints with officials, no concrete solutions have been provided.

The residents have now appealed to the Chief Minister of Haryana, urging immediate action to resolve the ongoing water crisis and address their grievances.
