Residents of Sector 23 in Bhiwani irked over poor sewerage, roads
Have been suffering for more than four and a half months
The absence of proper drainage and an efficient sewerage system has become a problem for residents of Sector 23 in Bhiwani town. The residents have raised the grievances many times at different platforms but the problems persists, they alleged.
Advocate Meena Jangra, a resident of Sector 23, said locals had been suffering for more than four and a half months due to the sewerage system which had almost collapsed now. She alleged that the stagnant sewage and rainwater had accumulated on the streets and were seeping into houses and causing structural damage, including cracks in walls of even solidly built homes.
The issue has been raised by the residents multiple times under the banner of Jan Sangharsh Samiti, which had also held protest demonstrations demanding immediate repair of the non-functional sewerage system and the repair and construction of roads in their locality. They alleged that the Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) administration and district authorities of negligence and inaction despite repeated complaints.
The residents said the prevailing conditions had made their lives miserable with children, women, and elderly persons finding it difficult to leave their homes, and contaminated water had entered household water supplies. Residents Welfare Association president Sajjan Kumar Singla had also written to the authorities concerned but without effective action, they alleged.
The residents demanded that the authorities immediately restore the sewerage network. They said an official of the HSVP assured them that the sewerage repair work would be completed very soon
