The much-awaited project of the Health Department, the eight-storeyed advanced Maternal and Child Health (MCH) building, which has missed the deadline of completion three times, is about to be completed in February.

The MCH wing building, worth Rs 30 crore, would be 100-bedded and have advanced facilities. After the beginning of this facility, all advanced maternal and children treatment facilities would be under one roof and it would most likely be completed by February-end, said Dr Jayant Ahuja, Civil Surgeon, Panipat.

Similarly, work on another much-awaited project of the widening of the peripheral ways on both sides of the elevated highway on the NH-44, which is crossing the city, would start in the next 10 days. The project, worth Rs 14 crore, and the peripheral ways on both sides, would be widened from 3.5m to 5.5m, after which the peripheral way would be widened from 12.5m to 14.5m on both sides.

Aashim Bansal, project director, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), said the work order had been allotted to the contractor company and the work would begin within the next 10 days. The deadline to complete the work had been fixed for 10 months, Bansal claimed.

Apart from it, Panipat City MLA Pramod Vij brought another big project of fourth ROB (flyover) for the residents and work on this project would start by the end of this month.

The Haryana State Roads and Bridge Development Corporation (HSRDC) has invited tender worth Rs 46.40 crore for the construction of the ROB to connect the NH-44 to the Old Industrial area here and it would play a big role in reducing the traffic load from the Assandh road and on the Red Light chowk on the NH-44. The tender would be opened on January 13 and the time-line has been fixed for two years to complete the project. The 8.5m-wide ROB would be 950-m-long and the cost of the project is Rs 56 crore.

Apart from this, DC Virender Kumar Dahiya, along with SP Lokender Singh, had made a specific plan to cover the city under the CCTV surveillance. Under this project, around 106 sensitive points in the city would be covered by installing 250 high-resolution CCTV cameras.

Dahiya had given approval to this project, after which the traffic wing of the district police began working on it. SP Lokender Singh said the project had almost been finalised and quotations from various companies had been sent to the DC. The work on the installation of the cameras was likely to start soon, the SP added.

Apart from it, the file of the ultra-modern fire station, which is to be constructed in Sector 25, is in the CM cell for final approval. Most likely, the work of construction would start within two months. The project is worth Rs 23.22 crore. The construction work of the indoor stadium on the Sanoli road, worth Rs 44.5 crore, would also start in the coming days.
