Resolution on formation of two new committees
Two special committees have been formed in the Haryana Legislative Assembly following the initiative of Speaker Harvinder Kalyan. In this regard, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mahipal Dhanda presented a government proposal that was unanimously passed by the House.
Notably, a few days ago, Speaker Harvinder Kalyan had called for the formation of two special committees in the public interest to work effectively in the areas of drug de-addiction and environmental protection.
Following this, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister presented a government resolution to establish two new subject committees: the Committee on Environment and Pollution-related Issues and the Committee on Youth Welfare and Youth Affairs. He said these committees would function under the rules and procedures of the Haryana Legislative Assembly.
The Committee on Environment and Pollution-related Issues will study environmental problems within the state and recommend remedial measures. It will examine the nature, extent, and impact of various types of pollution, including water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, and other environmental imbalances caused by pollution, and will suggest measures for their prevention and control.
Similarly, the Committee on Youth Welfare and Youth Affairs will also have no more than nine members nominated by the Speaker. The term of the committee members will be one year. This committee will investigate complaints regarding the implementation of various youth welfare schemes in the state. It will examine any matters arising from discussions in the House related to youth and youth welfare.
