The state-level meeting of the ‘Retired College Principals and Teachers Association, Haryana’ was convened at the Gymkhana Club, Yamunanagar.
Representatives from Yamunanagar, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Palwal, Faridabad and Rewari attended the gathering.
Dr Subhash Vohra, president of the Yamunanagar zone, extended a warm welcome to all delegates.
On the occasion, patrons and office-bearers of the Haryana Association — Dr Balbir Singh (patron), Dr Amar Singh Malhotra (president), Dr Mehtab Singh (vice-president), Dr RK Awasthi (general secretary) and Dr Sukhwant Singh (finance secretary) — were specially present.
In his address, association president Dr Amar Singh Malhotra said several demands of retired colleagues remained pending.
“The major ones include notional increment, notional pay fixation, pension through treasury, 12% compound interest, inclusion of the 36-day strike period, enhancement of gratuity from ?20 lakh to ?25 lakh, financial benefits for principals retired before 2006, and a 5% annual increase in honorarium for members who retired before 1998. The Association is actively pressing these demands before the government,” he stated.
He informed that a delegation had recently met the Director of Higher Education, Haryana, to discuss these issues. The Director, he said, had assured their prompt resolution.
While conducting the proceedings, Dr Devendra Anand extended greetings on World Teachers’ Day and shared updates regarding the Eighth Pay Commission.
Addressing the assembly, Patron Dr Balbir Singh, Dr Mehtab Singh and Dr Shailesh Kapoor exhorted members to remain united and prepared to face all challenges.
Finance Secretary Dr Sukhwant Singh presented the income and expenditure report, which was passed by a majority vote. He also expressed satisfaction that the membership tally had exceeded 750 for the financial year 2025–26.
On the occasion, Dr MS Khanchi, Dr DP Aseja and others stressed sustained efforts to strengthen the Association.
Yamunanagar zone finance secretary Dr Yugesh Kumar conveyed a vote of thanks to all attendees.
