A meeting of the Haryana College Principals and Teachers Federation, Yamunanagar zone, of the Haryana Federation of Retired Principals and Teachers of Government-Aided Colleges, was held under the chairmanship of zonal president Dr Dalbir Singh at the Gymkhana Club, Jagadhri.
The Federation’s activities and various issues concerning retired principals and professors were discussed. Zonal secretary Dr Nirmal Singh briefed members on the activities carried out by the Federation. Dr Dalbir Singh said that while retired government-aided employees were granted full pension benefits only after 28 years of service, their counterparts in government colleges received full benefits after 20 years. He urged the government to extend the same benefits to government-aided employees after 20 years of service.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Sushma Arya, Chief Patron of the Yamunanagar zone, called on members to work together to strengthen the organisation. Dr KR Bhardwaj, Patron of the Zone, stressed that the legal cell of the Federation should work diligently on pending court cases of members, alongside organisational strengthening.
Dr PR Tyagi provided updates on notional increments and other cases, while Prof JS Sodhi, convener of the advisory committee, emphasised the need for cordial coordination with the minister and officials of the Education Department.
Dr Ravish Chauhan underlined the importance of ensuring retired members receive the Professor grade, while Dr Hukum Singh said that although pensions were being paid on time, a permanent solution would only come once the government introduced a system for pension payments directly from the treasury
