The student welfare department of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, organised a retro musical night. The programme was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Shree Prakash Singh, while Dr Manoj Rai was the chief guest at the programme.
VC Singh said the university’s mission is not only to achieve academic excellence, but also to equally encourage the cultural and creative development of students.
He added that cultural events like these provide students with an opportunity to express their inner talents and foster team spirit, discipline and creative thinking.
Describing music as an integral part of education, VC Singh said music develops harmony, sensitivity and mental balance within an individual, which are essential for holistic education.
Praising the students, he said, “The musical evening is a testament to the vibrant talent and positive energy of our students.” He further stated that such events not only strengthen the cultural identity of the institution, but also inspire students to become responsible and sensitive citizens.
Chief guest Rai said, “It is incredibly heartening to see today’s youth so emotionally connected to our musical tradition. The dedication and commitment with which the students performed is inspiring.”
During the programme which was held at the university auditorium, students from the musical group “Ghunghroo” presented songs from the past in a new style. Their renditions of evergreen songs like “Neele Neele Amber Par” and “Ae Malik Tere Bande Hum” filled the hearts of the audience with a sea of emotions. The entire auditorium was immersed in the melodious music.
Dr SK Verma, Dean, Social Welfare; Dr Gyanendra Singh, Cultural Coordinator; Dr Aarti Deveshwar; Dr Kavita Rathi; Dr Manoj Pawar; Professor Suman; Dr Anju; Dr Riti; Dr Sudesh; Dr Anand; Dr Vijay Tomar, faculty, staff members and students were present during the programme.
