According to a complaint filed with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), the auction of an industrial plot located in NIT area was carried out on the instructions of the evenue official without adhering to the rules and regulations, thus leading to financial irregularities. An FIR registered under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120- B of the IPC, names Badkhal subdivision tehsildar and three others — Deepak , Rakesh Diwan and Pulkit — as accused.

Amarjit Singh Chawla, director of a company and the complainant, alleged that an industrial plot (38-A) in the industrial area of NIT had been auctioned in an illegal manner with the involvement of the tehsildar despite non-resolution of the objections raised against the move.
