Mohammad Shayin, Commissioner and Secretary of the Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED), as well as the Administrative Secretary of Rewari District, inspected the Masani Barrage and the PHED’s Sewage Treatment Plant at Kaluwas village here on Wednesday.
During the inspection, he directed the Irrigation and PHED officials to ensure that no chemical-mixed dirty water was discharged into the Masani Barrage. The work in this regard should be done in a planned manner for the purpose.
The Commissioner stated that arrangements should be made to prevent the stagnation of dirty water in the fields and during the disposal of dirty water, overflow should be handled properly.
He also ordered an inspection of the dirty water flowing into the Masani Barrage and emphasised that dirty water should not damage the crops of farmers. In such cases, he instructed the relevant department to make alternative arrangements.
Shayin stressed that treating the dirty water coming into the Masani Barrage was crucial to avoid any contamination. He ordered the department officials concerned to expedite the construction of the sewage treatment plant and increase its capacity from 6.5 MLD to 10 MLD.
He emphasised that the plant should be fully operational before the monsoon season, as per its designed capacity. He issued instructions that comprehensive measures be taken by the relevant department to ensure that no dirty water reached the Masani Barrage.
PHED Chief Engineer Pradeep Poonia, SE Circle Rewari Satish Rathi, SE (Irrigation) AK Raghuvanshi, PHED Executive Engineers -- VP Chauhan, Ravindra Gothwal, and Ashok Yadav, were among other officials present there.
