The accused, identified as Sandeep Kumar of Hudiya Kalan village of Alwar district in Rajasthan, currently resides in a rented home at Mayur Vihar.

“On the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, we received information that a man in Mayur Vihar had beaten up his wife, daughter and mother. Acting swiftly, the police rushed to the spot and found many people gathered there. A lot of blood was found scattered in the room, after which the Forensic Science Laboratory team was called to visit the scene. A knife used in the crime was recovered from the spot,” said a spokesperson of the district police.

He added that, according to the accused’s wife, Kusumlata, and mother, Prem Devi, he had stabbed his daughter Ranvita in the neck.

After the incident, the girl was rushed in a critical condition to the hospital in an ambulance. The accused’s wife and mother were also injured in the ordeal and had been hospitalised. The spokesman said a case of murder was then registered against the accused in this regard.

Acting swiftly, he was arrested a few hours after the crime. The preliminary investigation suggested that a domestic feud caused the crime, he added.

Rampura Police Station SHO Manish Kumar, told The Tribune that the accused had left his job with the Merchant Navy in 2017. He often fought with his wife over domestic woes, the SHO added.

“At present, Sandeep has no job. He will be produced before the court today and his remand will be sought for further interrogation,” he added.
