Rewari hospital row: Sangharsh samiti unveils outreach drive for 200-bed facility
The Hospital Banao Sangharsh Samiti, which has been staging an indefinite dharna at Bhagwanpur-Ramgarh village for over two months, has now launched a public outreach campaign to strengthen its demand for a 200-bed hospital in the area.
Tej Singh, a key leader of the Samiti, said members were actively visiting nearby districts to mobilise support. “Under the campaign, we have visited Gurugram and Kanina (Mahendragarh) not only to inform people about our demand but also to gather their support. Many people from surrounding villages and other districts are visiting the protest site daily to express solidarity. The protest will continue until the demand is met,” he said.
Rajendra Singh, another member, said a meeting would be convened soon to decide on the future course of action. “We will consult with all those who are supporting the campaign wholeheartedly before deciding our next steps,” he said.
Meanwhile, the state government has begun the process of identifying a site for a new 200-bed hospital in Rewari district. Officials said the current Civil Hospital is located in a low-lying, congested part of the city, prone to waterlogging during the monsoon.
Bhagwanpur-Ramgarh is one of the proposed sites already inspected by health officials. However, a final decision is pending. The government is also weighing the option of reconstructing and upgrading the Civil Hospital at its existing location, subject to clearance from the PWD.
