The Enforcement Wing of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), in collaboration with the Infra 1 division, conducted an inspection along the 60-m utility corridor and sector-dividing roads of Sectors 84/88 and 85/89. The visit aimed to address obstacles hindering the construction of essential service roads in the area.
The inspection covered the stretch from Elan Miracle to Dadi Satti Chowk, where the main carriageway has already been re-carpeted and the Dense Bituminous Macadam (DBM) layer laid to improve ridership quality. However, the development of approximately 5 km-long service roads on either side has been delayed due to encroachments on GMDA-owned land.
Led by DTP GMDA RS Batth, the team identified nearly 30 illegal encroachments along the Right of Way (ROW), including nurseries, kiosks, temporary carts and even some permanent structures. Many of these were reportedly established by nearby landowners for commercial use.
“Encroachments flagged by the Infra 1 division were obstructing our infrastructure development efforts. During the inspection, we issued clear directives to remove these structures within two days,” said Batth.
He further said encroachment removal operations would begin next week. “In the first phase, we are targeting the sector-dividing roads of Sectors 84/88 and 85/89. In the second phase, we will take up Sectors 86/90 and 87/91, along with the multi-utility corridor,” he added.
