Rohtak admn razes illegal constructions on 30 acres
Authorities in Rohtak district demolished illegal constructions spread over 30 acres, targeting several unauthorised colonies in and around the city.
In a statement on Thursday, Rohtak Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to preventing unauthorised developments. “Illegal colonies and constructions will not be allowed to develop in the district,” he said.
As part of the ongoing drive against illegal structures in controlled and urban areas, two unauthorised colonies along the JLN canal in Bohar village were demolished. “During the operation, one boundary wall, nine illegal constructions, a sewerage network, three foundations and a road network were razed,” Khadgata stated.
Additionally, an illegal colony near Sector-7 and the Sector-38 dividing road was also demolished. This included four illegal constructions, five foundations, a sewerage network, electricity poles, and a road network. Electricity meters in the area were also removed.
The demolition drive was carried out in the presence of officials from the District Town Planner’s office, Municipal Corporation, Power Corporation, and police personnel.
Rohtak District Town Planner (DTP) Sumandeep urged residents to exercise caution when investing in property. “The demolition campaign against illegal constructions will continue. Unauthorised colonies will not be allowed to develop in the district,” she said.
She further advised potential buyers to verify the legality of a colony before making any investments. “Residents can visit my office on any working day to check whether a colony is authorised,” she said.
