After a gap of nearly a year and a half, the Rohtak Municipal Corporation (MC) has re-opened 70 advertisement sites for auction on a rental basis. Located at key points across the city, these sites have been listed on the government portal for online tendering. The auction process is currently under way and will remain open till August 13.

Interested advertising agencies or individuals can register their firms online at https://ulb.project247.in and participate in the tender process. The MC anticipates generating over Rs 4 crore annually from renting out these advertising spaces.

At the same time, the MC has launched a special enforcement drive targeting commercial establishments that have installed name or sign boards exceeding permitted size limits. Officials are surveying private properties suspected of displaying third-party advertisements without registration or prior approval.

“We have 98 designated advertisement sites under the MC jurisdiction where hoardings, flex boards, posters and other promotional materials are allowed, subject to proper rental procedures. Of these, 28 sites have already been auctioned. The remaining 70 had been lying vacant for over one and a half years due to various reasons,” said Satyavrat, Assistant Engineer, MC.

He explained that the delay was mainly due to the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct during last year’s Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, followed by a revision of collector rates. As advertisement site rentals are aligned with these rates, all 70 sites have now been updated on the official portal for auction.

“These sites are located in areas such as Model Town, Bapu Park, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Sector 6. They will be rented out for a period of three years and bidders must adhere to the prescribed guidelines while installing hoardings or publicity materials. If all sites are successfully rented out, the MC expects to earn more than Rs 4 crore yearly,” he added.

Meanwhile, six establishments situated along Delhi Bypass Road and Sonepat Road have been served notices for installing oversized name boards without registering on the portal. They have been instructed to either remove the unauthorised boards within five days or update their data online and apply for official permission.

In a review meeting with officials, Municipal Commissioner Anand Sharma directed the team to identify and issue notices to individuals or businesses that have installed large hoardings or flex banners illegally on rooftops of shopping malls, showrooms, shops or residences without registration.

“Strict action will be taken under the Haryana Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1989, and the applicable advertisement policy. Defaulters failing to pay the imposed penalties within the stipulated time frame will face FIRs,” Sharma warned.
