Rohtak civic body to honour shop owners recycling plastic waste
Rohtak, March 8
The Rohtak Municipal Corporation will honour the owners of restaurants, eating joints and other shops for helping in collection, disposal and recycling of plastic waste.
Mayor Manmohan Goyal said the owners of eating joints offering at least 5 per cent discount to the customers who bring along some plastic waste would be felicitated.
“We will visit eating joints/restaurants that come up with such initiatives and honour them with a certificate of appreciation for partnering with the municipal corporation,” the Mayor added.
Goyal was speaking at a local eating joint, the owners of which have decided to give 7 per cent concession to the customers who bring some plastic/e-waste along with them and put it in a bin placed in front of the restaurant.
Meanwhile, Rohtak Municipal Commissioner Pardeep Godara appreciated the initiative. He asserted that maintaining cleanliness was a collective social responsibility and such steps would go a long way.
Ravi Budhwar, a promoter of 7th Heaven Restaurant, who has launched the campaign as part of ‘Swachh Rohtak Abhiyan’, said the plastic and e-waste collected by them would be handed over to a recycling agency approved by the local municipal corporation.
He also distributed reusable masks to the sanitation workers of the municipal corporation so that they were able to prevent themselves from dust and other pollutants. — TNS
