The district police have arrested four accused in connection with the murder case of financer Manjit Singh of Dighal village (Jhajjar) who was gunned down at Kiloi village here, over two weeks ago. The accused have been sent on police remand for five days to find out others involved in the crime.
The accused have been identified as Lalit, alias Laxman of Sector 9, Gaziyabad (Uttar Pradesh), Rohit of Faridpur village (Palwal), Ravinder, alias Ravi of Uttar Pradesh, and Harish, alias Hariya of Faridabad district. All were found to be involved in the murder, claimed the police spokesman.
“As per the preliminary investigation, Manjeet and his brother Mukesh had come to attend the marriage function of their cousin at a banquet hall in Kiloi village here on December 6. They were having dinner when two-three armed unidentified youths reached there. The latter opened indiscriminate fires on Manjeet and fled while firing in the air. Both were taken to Trauma Centre at the PGIMS Rohtak where Manjeet was declared dead,” said the spokesman.
He said the police teams conducted raids to nab the assailants on December 9 when they got a tip-off that two armed-miscreants were roaming on a motorbike near Gohana Road in Rohtak city with an intention to perpetrate another crime. Both accused, identified as Sahil of Kharkhoda (Sonepat) and Jasbir of Fatehabad, were chased by the police. Later, they suffered injuries during the encounter. The miscreants had been undergoing treatment at the PGIMS, Rohtak. They would also be included in the investigation of the Manjeet murder case, he added.
