The Court of Additional Principal Judge (Family Court), Arya Sharma, has also awarded the woman petitioner Rs 30 lakh as permanent alimony from the respondent husband.
According to the petition filed at the Family Court, the petitioner married the respondent in Rohtak on November 18, 2018. She alleged that she was subjected to both physical and mental torture by her husband and his family members. She further alleged that after consuming alcohol, her husband clicked objectionable photographs and videos, forced her into unnatural sex, assaulted her and threatened her.
“Three days after my marriage, my mother-in-law demanded a plot of 200 square yards in dowry,” the petitioner stated. She maintained that her husband and his brother were habitual drinkers who returned home intoxicated late at night. “My brother-in-law also tried to outrage my modesty,” she added.
Dr Deepak Bhardwaj, advocate for the petitioner, pointed out that an FIR was registered at City Police Station, Rohtak, in March 2020 on the basis of her complaint. Subsequently, she filed cases for maintenance, domestic violence and divorce on the ground of cruelty.
