On the concluding day of Chhath Puja, the MLA reached the ghats early in the morning and announced that the Chhath Puja ghat would be beautified like the banks of the sacred Ganga river. Standing among the devotees at the ghat, he offered arghya (water offering) to Lord Surya Narayan.

Reaching the venue around 5 am, Batra greeted the families gathered for the rituals and extended his best wishes. The event, organised by the Purvanchal Ekta Samiti, witnessed a grand celebration attended by hundreds of devotees.

Addressing them, Batra said Chhath was an integral part of India’s culture and prayed that Goddess Chhath bestow her blessings on all.

“This is not a place for political discussions, but unfortunately, some people have tried to make it one. I appeal to the people to always vote wisely, without any pressure and in favour of the party whose policies truly inspire you,” he added.

Batra said arrangements such as water supply and other facilities should have been made in advance by the government and the administration. “However, I don’t wish to dwell on why that didn’t happen. As soon as the organising committee brought this matter to my notice on Monday, I spoke to the Deputy Commissioner and ensured that no devotee faced any inconvenience at the site,” the MLA added.

The MLA further said better arrangements would be made next year. He urged the members of the Purvanchal community not to consider themselves outsiders, saying, “You are not migrants; you are all residents of Rohtak. Even though I am an Opposition MLA, I stand with you all with full strength.”

On the occasion, the organizing committee honoured the MLA with a memento for his presence and support.
