Rohtak institutes, students play key role in SVEEP drive

Signature campaign, rangoli, blood-donation camps organised to spread awareness on voting

Different government departments, educational institutes and their students are participating in the systematic voters’’ education and electoral participation (SVEEP) campaign with enthusiasm.

As per the instructions of Rohtak Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ajay Kumar, voter awareness activities are being organised in the district under the SVEEP campaign.

“The aim of the SVEEP campaign is to increase the voting percentage in the upcoming Assembly elections. Various departments and institutions are encouraging voters to participate in the polling process,” said Ajay Kumar.The District Election Officer stated that the instructions had been issued to the departments concerned to organise voter awareness activities. “Various institutions are also playing an important role in strengthening the democracy,” he added. The voter awareness activities are being organised under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner and Nodal Officer of SVEEP campaign, Narender Kumar.

In this series, a slogan-writing competition was organised at Sakshi Malik Government College located at Mokhra village of the district to make students aware about voting.A signature campaign was conducted under the voter awareness activities in Sat Jinda Kalyana College in Kalanaur, during which the students were exhorted to exercise their voting rights in every election. As part of voter awareness activities at the Government Industrial Training Institute in Kalanaur, girl students made a rangoli to create awareness about voting. The students gave out a message through rangoli that voting was not only their right but also our responsibility.

Shri Shyam Seva Samiti also organized a blood donation camp in collaboration with the Red Cross Society as part of the SVEEP drive.

3,531 new voters in Rohtak

As many as 3,531 new voters have been registered in Rohtak, taking the total number of voters in the district to 8,34,697. The District Election Officer said of these, 4,41,681 are male voters and 3,93,016 are female. As per the official record, 831 polling stations have been set up in the district.
