In a latest development, the Municipal Corporation (MC) is preparing to issue another notice urging these owners to shift their dairies as soon as possible. Notably, the MC has also floated a tender to provide basic amenities in the dairy complex at an estimated cost of Rs 16 crore.

This action follows an inspection by MC Commissioner Dharmendra Singh, along with other officials, on Friday, during which they interacted with dairy owners who have moved to this new location.

These owners told them that the lack of essential amenities such as concrete roads, potable water, sewerage system and a veterinary hospital, had deterred others from shifting their dairies there.

Baljeet, one of the dairy owners, said, “Basic amenities like water supply and concrete roads must be provided in the complex to encourage others to shift there as soon as possible.”

Shivam, another dairy owner, suggested that shops should be constructed in the complex and auctioned to provide additional facilities for operating dairy owners.

In response, Commissioner Dharmendra Singh instructed Executive Engineer Mandeep Singh to ensure the provision of basic facilities in the dairy complex, including sewerage, water supply and road.

He also directed the executive engineer to ensure regular cleaning of the drains in the complex and to expedite the setting up of a biogas plant for efficient waste disposal. Any additional work, if required, should also be included in the work plan, he added.

“The dairy complex project was initiated several years ago, with 250 plots allotted to dairy operators. However, only 85 allottees have moved so far, while others are requesting various amenities here before making the shift, hence a tender for essential facilities, including water supply, concrete roads and a sewerage system, has been floated for a total cost of Rs 16 crore," Mandeep Singh, Executive Engineer, told 'The Tribune'.
