Rohtak PGIMS advised to extend time of tele consultation service

The Additional Chief Secretary (Medical Education and Research), Haryana, Sudhir Rajpal, has advised the PGIMS authorities to extend its tele consultation service up to 5 pm daily to ensure benefit of the facility to maximum patients.

Rajpal stated this while inspecting the Tele Consultation Service Centre at the PGIMS here on Saturday. At present, the facility is available up to 1 pm under which the doctors posted at the CHCs and the PHCs across the state connect with the PGIMS doctors online. They inform the PGIMS doctors about the patients’ condition to get consultation for further treatment.

The ACS also emphasised over effective collaboration between Rohtak PGIMS Director and Civil Surgeon to provide world-class services to patients. He expressed pride in the fact that the PGIMS was excelling in super-specialty facilities across multiple areas and performing well in various rankings.

During his visit, Rajpal noted that the institute provided 7,000-8,000 outpatient department (OPD) services daily and operated 24-hour emergency services. He also inspected key areas, including the Trauma Centre, LSL Super Specialty Block, PGIDS, MS Office and the Ortho Ward.

PGIMS Director Dr SK Singhal said the ACS first visited the Trauma Centre, where he was briefed about the operational systems and provided directions to enhance the quality of patient care. He then inspected the super specialty department for cardiac surgery and cardiology located in the LSL Building, where he gained insights into the services offered.

Medical Superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal shared that the ACS suggested that a campaign be launched to spread awareness among people about using the tele consultancy service. Later, he visited Ward 12, engaged with patients and discussed about treatment experiences, he claimed.

PR Department in-charge Dr Varun Arora said  the ACS advised the Civil Surgeon that patients with minor ailments should be treated at the Civil Hospital, with the PGIMS focusing on high-level treatments to allow super-specialty doctors more time with each patient.

Rajpal also advocated for the establishment of an e-office system and instructed that a monthly report be prepared detailing data such as the number of OPD visits, patient admissions, surgeries and medications dispensed. He emphasised the need for continuous quality improvement in patient care.
