Rohtak PGIMS Director seeks report on impact of nurses’ strike

The nurses serving at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak discharged their duties only in one shift (from 8 am to 3 pm) today, as announced by their association on Friday.
Students of MSc/BSc (Nursing), M Pharma and B Pharma courses have been deployed in place of nurses to tide over the crisis by the PGIMS administration.
The Rohtak PGIMS Director, Dr SS Lohchab, has sought a report from the Medical Superintendent of the institute regarding the impact of the nurses’ absence in evening and night shifts.
“We will assess the situation and take appropriate measures after the report is received,” the Director said while talking to The Tribune today.
Meanwhile, the Director has appealed to the striking nurses to reconsider their decision to continue the stir in view of the impact of their strike on patients, especially those in critical condition.
“The nurses’ association has been told that their demands and concerns have been conveyed to the state authorities and their grievances would be redressed. But halting patient-care services endangers lives and as healthcare professionals, it is our solemn duty to deliver compassionate and timely care to the patients,” he said.
The Director has urged the nurses to explore alternative avenues for voicing their concerns and engaging in constructive dialogue, while prioritising the well-being of the patients.
