Rohtak pharmacy college ex-principal held in suicide case of his successor
Former principal of College of Pharmacy, Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak, was arrested on Sunday in connection with the suicide case of college principal Dr Rakesh Kumar Goyal.
IMT SHO Inspector Mahesh Kumar said the accused, Dr Gajendra, is the third person who has been arrested in the case. Earlier, two others, including a college faculty and bearer, were arrested.
Dr Gajendra was produced before a court which sent him to judicial custody, he added.
“Dr Gajendra was among those persons who were named in the suicide note by Dr Rakesh Kumar Goyal for forcing him to take the extreme step. Further investigation is underway into the matter,” said the SHO.
Dr Goyal went missing from his home on August 29 last year and his scooty and slippers were found near the Jawahar Lal Nehru (JLN) canal.
Before he went missing, he had posted a suicide note on a social media group, in which he alleged that his predecessor and an assistant professor at the college were trying to implicate him on false charges.
Later, Dr Goyal’s body was recovered from the canal near Baland village following a search operation. Police had also recovered a suicide note following which the probe was initiated.
