Rohtak, February 28
Akshay, a resident of Patel Nagar in Rohtak, has been defrauded of Rs 12.35 lakh by online fraudsters on the pretext of getting his money invested in share market. The police have registered a case on the basis of his complaint.
The complainant said he had come across the advertisement of an investment scheme on Instagram and joined a Telegram group by clicking on a link provided by the advertiser.
He also joined a WhatsApp group, on which he was told about the share-market investment scheme. “I was told to download a mobile application. I sent money through online transactions for investing different companies suggested by them. However, when I tried to withdraw some amount from my account created on the application, it could not be done. I urged them to return my principal amount but they demanded more money for that. Ultimately, I realised that I have been defrauded of Rs 12.35 lakh by the fraudsters,” Akshay said.
