In a noble gesture, residents of Rohtak donated blood for injured and ailing Army personnel at a special blood donation camp organised by a voluntary organisation on the premises of a private school here on Friday.
An Army paramedic team, led by Naib Subedar Giri Vinayak, came from Delhi for the camp, organised by Hum Aur Aap Social Welfare Society, a Rohtak-based NGO, at MS Saraswati Senior Secondary School here.
“As many as 113 units of blood were collected during the camp,” said Vikas Mishra, a representative of the NGO.
School director Himank Mittal said the objective of the camp was to support the country’s armed forces and instil a sense of patriotism and social welfare among school students.
Principal Reetu said the school had been organising such camps for Army personnel for the last four years.
Dr Ujjval Balhara, Medical Officer at a local Primary Health Centre (PHC), was deployed to conduct the medical check-up of the donors.
