Rohtak, June 23

The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) has floated a proposal for developing a multifunctional complex near the Rohtak Junction Railway Station for a lease period of 45 years.

“The multifunctional complexes are located in the vicinity of the station complexes and fall under the railway stations. These provide multiple facilities like shopping, food stalls/restaurants, bookstalls, ATMs, medicine, budget hotels and parking space among others for rail users at the stations,” said Ved Parkash Dudeja, Vice-Chairman, RLDA.

The RLDA is a statutory body under the Ministry of Railways for the development of vacant railway land for commercial use to generate revenue by non-tariff measures. Currently, the Railways has approximately 43,000 hectares of vacant land across India.

“Railways may provide water supply, sewerage and electricity on payment, if available. In addition, Railways provide suitable access from surrounding land for bringing these utilities to the multifunctional complex site without any charges,” maintains a statement issued by the authority.

The RLDA has already leased out 52 complexes for a lease period of 45 years to various developers across the country. Of these, 13 have been commissioned and the rest are in various phases of construction.
