Rohtak road in poor condition again, locals demand four-laning of stretch
A major stretch of the Rohtak road in Jind town, which was constructed three years ago after prolonged protests by residents, has once again been damaged.
Rajkumar Goyal, chief of the Jind Vikas Sangathan and a social activist, alleged that the condition of the Jind-Rohtak road had worsened significantly. He said the stretch of the road from Devi Lal Chowk to the Rohtak Road bypass was in poor shape with nearly 100 potholes and broken patches. It had been causing inconvenience to commuters, he said.
Goyal criticised the local authorities for resorting to temporary patchwork rather than providing a permanent solution. The damaged surface and potholes pose serious difficulties for both drivers and pedestrians, he said.
The social activist demanded that the road be reconstructed as a four-lane highway with a proper divider in the middle. He discussed the issue with organisation members, including Rajkumar Bhola, Manjeet Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Sawar Garg, and Pawan Bansal, who were present at the meeting.
He further stated that thousands of vehicles pass through this road daily and it has been in a dilapidated state for the past three years. Despite repeated demands, the administration has not taken any concrete steps to address the issue. Goyal said that temporary repairs were not a permanent solution as the road got damaged again within a short period, especially during the rainy season.
He urged the administration to come up with a complete plan of the stretch and begin work at the earliest. The entire stretch in the town should be four-laned with a proper divider, he said.
