Rohtak to get integrated command centre, says DC Move aims to improve traffic control, civic cervices
An Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) will be established in Rohtak to make the city more efficient, convenient and administratively smart. The Municipal Corporation (MC) has been directed to prepare a Detailed Project Report for the initiative.
“The ICCC will enable Rohtak to be resource-integrated and administratively monitored from a single platform. Once established, it will bring together key civic services such as advanced traffic management, citizen services, medical resource monitoring and crime surveillance, helping the city respond more effectively to urban challenges,” said Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta in Rohtak on Monday.
Gupta held a meeting with officials regarding the project and instructed all departments concerned to provide feedback so that their specific requirements could be incorporated.
“The ICCC would be especially beneficial for traffic management and enforcement. It will facilitate e-challans for violators and ensure strict compliance with traffic rules. The objective is to prevent reckless driving and make city roads more disciplined and safe,” he added.
He emphasised that, under the road safety initiative, each department should take responsibility for developing one major junction. Accordingly, the MC will develop the D-Park Junction, the Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran will take up the new Bus Stand Junction, and the Public Works Department will develop the Sonepat Road/Chhotu Ram Chowk stretch.
Gupta further directed that these junctions be redesigned as pedestrian-safe and pedestrian-free zones to ensure smooth vehicular movement and enhanced public safety. He also instructed officials to identify potential parking sites across the city to help decongest major roads and ease traffic bottlenecks.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on traffic flow and pedestrian safety at D-Park, Bhiwani Stand and Chhotu Ram Chowk. The DC also reviewed an earlier project proposing the redesign of 13 kilometres of city roads to make them more citizen- and child-friendly.
