“This technology offers a cost-effective alternative to the expensive laser drilling process used to create holes in osmotic tablets. The research was conducted with the guidance of Prof Harish Dureja, Dean of Research and Development,” the university spokesman said.

Prof Garg said the technology uses specially designed notched tools that can be integrated directly into existing tablet compression machines. “These tools create precise holes in osmotic tablets, eliminating the need for separate laser drilling equipment. This approach can significantly reduce production costs and shorten batch preparation time,” he added.
