Rohtak varsity sets special cell to clear medical bills within 3 weeks
Keeping in view of the huge pendency of medical bills, the authorities of Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS) here have established a Medical Reimbursement Cell to deal with such cases promptly.
Significantly, it has also introduced an online system to submit the bills so as to ensure their timely disposal. A three-week deadline for clearing such bills has also been set with the fixing of accountability of the officials concerned.
Sources said over 400 cases pertaining to medical reimbursement have been lying pending for several months while the beneficiaries, including superannuated employees, are compelled either to take round of the university or to approach its officials over phone to get them cleared.
“The move will bring relief to superannuation and working employees of the UHS and the PGIMS, Rohtak, as the cell will facilitate timely reimbursement of their medical bills. The cell had to be set up while acting on the complaints about inordinate delay in the reimbursement of medical bills,” said Dr HK Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor, UHS.
He said that superannuated employees of the UHS and the PGIMS had been residing in different districts of the state. Some of them were also living in other states. Now, they need not visit the UHS for the reimbursement of their bills. Their bills would be reimbursed automatically within the deadline of three weeks. Earlier, there was no such provision that led to the delay in the disposal of such cases, he added.
“The cell will be manned by additional staff, including a Deputy Superintendent, a pharmacist and a clerk, who will settle all pending medical claims within two months. The cell will provide regular updates on the status of the medical bills to the beneficiaries through email. The officials will submit the progress report of the cell to my office every month,” said Dr Aggarwal.
He said that a stamp would be marked on every medical bill with receiving date and the deadline so that everyone from the receiving clerk up to the sanctioning authorities could know the final date of its disposal.
PGIMS Director Dr SK Singhal, Medical Superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal and Finance Controller Rajesh Kumar Manocha hailed the move as a significant step, stating that it would benefit thousands of employees and ensure timely payment of their medical bills.
