Rohtak varsity’s research work granted patent

The research work of the Department of Computer Science and Applications of Maharshi Dayanand University has been granted a patent by the Government of India for a revolutionary invention towards dealing with cybercrime and digital fraud.

This research work has been led by research scholar Deepti Rani of the Department of Computer Science and Applications, Senior Professor Dr Naseeb Singh Gill and Head of Department Prof Preeti Gulia.

This patent titled “Digital Image Evidence Encryption for Secure and Tamper-Proof Digital Forensics in IoT” (Application Number 202311030951A) of the Department of Computer Science and Applications has been approved by the Government of India.

Deepti said that this invention presents a three-level process, in which digital crime evidence is first encrypted by advanced mathematical algorithms and then kept safe on the blockchain network. With this technology, the evidence presented in the court will be tamper-proof, authentic and completely verifiable.

Profs Gill and Prof Preeti said this technology will add a new dimension to the investigation of cybercrime, financial fraud, intellectual property theft and serious criminal cases.

“By ensuring confidentiality and reliability of digital evidence, this innovation will not only make the judicial process transparent, but will also strengthen the public’s trust in the justice system in the society,” said Prof Gill.
