The students of the International Institute of Veterinary Education and Research, which is affiliated to the university, are demanding the intervention of the university authorities over “exorbitant and arbitrary fee hike” by the college authorities.

Being harassed

Rather than redressing our grievances, the college authorities started harassing and intimidating students. We have been called by the Vice-Chancellor to discuss our demands. Now, we hope that the university will intervene in the matter. — A student, International Institute of Veterinary Education and Research

Students Ashmit, Palak and others, who are sitting on the dharna, said they had to raise the issue with the university authorities as the college authorities were paying no heed to their concerns.

“Rather than redressing our grievances, the college authorities started harassing and intimidating the students. Now, we have taken up the matter with the university authorities. We have been called by the Vice-Chancellor to discuss our demands. Now, we hope that the university will intervene in the matter and ensure justice for us,” said a student.

One of the students of the college had also lodged a complaint with the police in Jind district, alleging mental harassment and undue fee hike on February 4. Students also met Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, who directed them to approach the police.

The Jind police said they had registered a case against the college director, Bhupender Malik, and two others, identified as Sandeep Dhaka and Rahul Solanki, and referred the FIR to the police station in Bahu Akbarpur in Rohtak district for further action.

The university authorities, however, said they were trying to redress the grievances of students.
