Haryana school board Class XII exam: Rohtak's Kajal topper, secures 99.6%

Girls outshone boys in the Haryana school board’s Class XII examination, the results of which were announced on Wednesday. The results saw an overall success rate of 87.08 per cent this year.

Dr Jagbir Singh, Chairman, Board of School Education, said the pass percentage of girls in the regular category was 90.51 and that of boys was 83.96. The top three positions were bagged by girls. Overall topper Kajal (arts stream), a student of KCM Public Senior Secondary School, Nindana village, Rohtak, secured 498 out of 500 marks. Nindana is the native village of CM Manohar Lal Khattar.

Sakshi from Pehowa (Kurukshetra) and Muskan from Narwana (Jind) shared the second position with 496 marks each. Both are joint toppers in the commerce stream as well. Similarly, Shruti of Narnaund (Hisar) and Poonam of Khambi village (Palwal) shared the third position with 495 marks each. Payal of Achej Paharipur village (Jhajjar) topped in the science stream with 494 marks. Dr Jagbir Singh said of 2,45,685 students, who appeared in the exams, 2,13,949 were declared successful, while 23,604 needed to reappear in certain subjects. Charkhi Dadri topped the district-wise list with 90.85 pass percentage, while Mewat stood at the bottom with a success rate of 68.38 per cent.

The BSEH also compiled the results separately for the general, OBC and SC categories. An official spokesperson said 89.46 per cent general category students, 86.84 per cent OBC and 83.81 per cent SC students passed the examination. Students from the commerce stream had the highest pass percentage of 92.52 while arts and science students had a success rate of 86.61 and 85.84 per cent, respectively.

Rural students (87.71 per cent) performed marginally better than their urban counterparts (85.96 per cent). The result improved by nearly seven points from 2020, when the pass percentage was 80.34. Previous years had even worse results with 74.48 per cent in 2019, 63.84 per cent in 2018, 64.50 per cent in 2017 and 62.40 per cent in 2016.

At 89.72 per cent, private schools produced better results as compared to government institutions (85.46 per cent). As many as 434 private schools and 244 government registered 100 per cent results.
